RAÚL TAMEZ

Raúl Tamez — Recipient of the Guillermo Arriaga National Dance Award in 2025 and 2016. Member of Mexico’s National System of Art Creators (2023–2026). Fulbright Scholar 2025, serving as a visiting professor in the Chair of Mexican Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. Awarded the Carla Estrada Medal in 2023. Winner of a Bessie Award in 2022 for Outstanding Choreographer, one of the highest honors in contemporary dance in New York, USA.

 

Raúl is the first Mexican choreographer to work with the prestigious Limón Dance Company since José Limón himself. In 2017 and 2018, he received two Lunas del Auditorio awards for creating the Mexico City International Contemporary Dance Festival.

 

He holds a degree in Contemporary Dance from the National School of Classical and Contemporary Dance of INBAL and from the Rotterdam Dance Academy in the Netherlands. He also earned a degree in Sociology from UNAM, as well as a Master’s in Dance from Liverpool John Moores University in the United Kingdom, completed with the support of the FINBA-CONACYT scholarship.

 

He has created more than 40 works, presented at leading theaters and venues in Mexico and abroad. As a performer and choreographer, he has presented work in countries such as Spain, the Netherlands, Cuba, Latvia, Lithuania, China, Slovenia, Sweden, Turkey, Japan, the United States, Canada, Australia, El Salvador, and Colombia.

 

He has been a member of companies including IT Dansa, Le Jeune Ballet du Québec, Aura Dance Theater, Eva Martz Dance Company, and the Riga Chamber Ballet. He has performed repertoire by choreographers such as JiÅ™í Kylián, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Alexander Ekman, Rafael Bonachela, Wayne McGregor, Ohad Naharin, and Jasmin Vardimon. In Mexico, he has also danced works by renowned choreographers including Tania Pérez-Salas, Alicia Sánchez, and Jaime Camarena. He was part of the first generation of dancers at CEPRODAC, where he has also worked as a choreographer.

 

Raúl has served as a juror and curator in Mexico and internationally, and has received numerous awards, grants, and distinctions throughout his career. He has taught at universities such as Universidad Anáhuac, Universidad de las Américas Puebla, Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana, the Institute of the Arts Barcelona, and the University of Texas at Austin.

 

Together with Rodrigo González, he is co-director of Infinita Compañía and Teatro Varsovia.

RODRIGO GONZÁLEZ

Rodrigo González is a Mexican dancer, choreographer, and producer, as well as the director of La Infinita Compañía. He is the recipient of two Lunas del Auditorio awards (2017 and 2018) in the Modern Dance category for the Mexico City International Contemporary Dance Festival (FIDCDMX).

 

He has an extensive background in artistic creation, promotion, cultural outreach, and arts management. He has collaborated with the National Dance Company of Mexico, the National Folkloric Dance Company, the National Opera Company, the Los Angeles Opera, and the Independent Ballet of Mexico.

 

He trained as a multidisciplinary performing dancer with a specialization in Dance Pedagogy at the French Ballet School, and also pursued complementary studies in Law and Philosophy.

 

He has presented his work internationally in countries such as China, Japan, Morocco, Uzbekistan, and Algeria, officially representing Mexico under commissions from its embassies.

 

Rodrigo has created more than 40 works, among them The Black Swan, presented annually at Chapultepec Castle; The Triumph of Life, premiered at the Esperanza Iris City Theater; The Death of the Quetzal, The Encounter, and Monumental Altar, premiered at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City; Empire, Carlota, The Passion, and Romeo and Juliet at Chapultepec Castle; Madame Butterfly at the Guillermina Bravo Dance Theater; The Little Prince at the Teatro de las Artes at CENART; as well as Teleny and Frankenstein at the Gothic Chapel of the Helénico Cultural Institute, and Voices at Foro La Gruta in the same cultural center; in addition to Anónima by Francisco Reyes and Stupid Fucking Bird at Teatro Varsovia.

 

He is also the director of Teatro Varsovia and La Infinita Compañía Estudio.
